I’m a former TV news guy…so it only makes sense that this blog is about TV News. And I’m kind of a big deal.
As much as this blog will be about the state of tv news, it will also be about me and my day in and day out activities.
I came out of journalism school in 1994 and immediately began working as a one-man-band reporter/photographer in one of the smallest markets in the country. I played the game for a long time. I moved all over the country. I would make lateral moves to increase market size…and then take promotions by moving to smaller markets.
I started as a photographer…became a reporter…became an assignment editor…then a News Director. Those who know me know how I feel about News Directors…so you can imagine how much I loved life playing that role.
News people all over the country know the Hunter S. Thompson quote,
“The TV business is uglier than most things. It is normally perceived as some kind of cruel and shallow money trench through the heart of the journalism industry, a long plastic hallway where thieves and pimps run free and good men die like dogs, for no good reason.”
